Army Family Action Plan

Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) History.

AFAP has proudly served soldiers, families, and the Army community for 20 years. The purpose of the Army Family Action Plan is to identify the issues of the soldiers and their families which affect quality of life and propose solutions that build self reliance.

How does it work?
Individual community members submit specifically formatted recommendations (issues) for community improvements. Delegates from the DPG community attend the conference, to evaluate and prioritize these issues submitted by the Dugway community and workforce. Over time, conference Delegates and FRTI's have contributed substantially to well-being improvements throughout the Department of the Defense.

AFAP has been responsible for, 82 changes to legislation, 130 revised policies, 140 improved programs and services.

Dugway Proving Ground held its annual AFAP Conference on 10 March 2009. The following were prioritized as top issues by the delegates:

Our No. 1 issue, lack of a regular medical clinic, was brought forward at the Army Materiel Command AFAP conference (April 2009), and is being addressed by the Army Surgeon General as part of a general look into medical facilities at all Army depots and proving grounds (GOSC minutes, 1 July 09).

Issues 2, 3, 7, 12 & 14 are being actively addressed by the DPG Dept. of Public Works. Newly received funds are being applied to these issues and it is anticipated they will be completed.

Issue #11, Housing Privatization, is unattainable at this time. This can't be resolved at the local or regional levels, and HQDA has not prioritized DPG for privatization.
